HOW TO USE Testvocabulary.com
- Self-learningIf somebody is telling you that he or she is going to teach you something, it's probably pretty far from true. The truth is, no teacher can teach you, but you rather have to learn the subject yourself. The teacher can assist you learning, can organize your material, and give directions and explanations; but it's still learner's responsibility to actually learn whatever the subject is. This statement is totaly true for learning English words, regardless of whether you are native speaker or foreigner. We can only assist you, but can't make you systematically learning. It's your responsibility.
We provide the materials. You learn them.
We provide a convenient way to print the learning materials. It's up to you, whether to print them or not.
We provide the exercises. You perform and learn from them.
We provide the tests. It's up to you to take those tests repeatedly, until you've learned all the words.
- How to chose my starting level? Here is a very simple advice: go to Grade 4 and try to pass the test. If your score is good enough (say, 100%), go to Grade 5, then Grade 6, and so on, up to SAT, until you pass the test with a grade below 90%. That would mean you need to learn a bit, and that's probably the right level to start.
- How to use "word basket"?Go to the word list on your current level. Select the words from the list that you'd like to memorize, and add them to the basket by pressing the [+] button.

Once you have enough words, you can go to the basket (upper link on the left menu) and then you can either print [url] your selected words and pin them on your desk (or on your fridge), or start doing online exercises [url] and tests [url] , using exclusively the words you've selected.
- How to print words from the basket? In the basket view, check the words you'd like to print. [ img w/ checkboxes ]
Then push the Printer-friendly Preview button. [ img ] A new window with the words of your choice will open. [ img ] Here you can use Ctrl-P or your browser menus to actually print the page. Please, note that it's up to you to manage appropriate number of words per page. - How to use the exercises? Please, read about the tests first. Exercises are same as tests, but in each and every step after answering the question you are given the right answer, so you can learn from your mistakes.
- How to take a test?On the learning level of your choice or from your basket page, select Test (or Exercise). It will take you to a page with selection of two types of tests: multiple choice and type-in. The former is a typical multiplce choice test, where you are supposed to make a selection between 4 or 5 presented answers; while in the latter you are expected to type in the right answer.

Every test takes 10 steps. At the end you are given your score.
